Westinghouse
George Westinghouse Jr. was an American entrepreneur and engineer in Pennsylvania who invented the railroad air brake and pioneered the electrical industry. Receiving his first patent at the age of 19. Westinghouse saw the potential in alternating current as an electrical power distribution system in the early 1880s and devoted all of his resources to its development and marketing, a move that put his company in direct competition with Edison’s direct current system. By winning this competitive battle, Westinghouse grew to become one of the largest manufacturers of advanced consumer products in the US, including kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners, fans, pans and cameras.
January 9, 1886, the day George Westinghouse founded the company. Westinghouse has gained a variety of experiences over the years. Consider the innovations in alternating current to the installation of the first commercial radio station.
Westinghouse used its innovative engineering experience and introduced the first fully electric cooker in 1917. The brand became a leader in the design and manufacture of electrical household appliances. In 1973, the company introduced the first induction cooker and developed a series of pans for it. W has been a well-known and loved brand for years. In 1970, W Homeware withdrew from the housewares business. In 2019, Megaprojects B.V. re-introduced the brand to the European market.
